Wreck Cove General Store
The Wreck Cove General Store was opened in 1976, and is
still owned and operated by its founder. We are located on the
Cabot Trail at Wreck Cove, on beautiful Cape Breton Island,
Nova Scotia.
Our store is open year-round; we close only on Christmas Day,
New Year's Day, and Easter!
We offer grocery basics, little necessities for the camper and
traveller, fuel, fresh coffee, and local information. We also stock
a large selection of books and music from local authors and artists
published by Cape Breton Books and Music, beautiful postcards
and art cards from local artists, and special pieces of art, crafts,
and collectibles. Our seasonal offerings include hunting permits
and fishing licenses, ice cream, even espresso coffee. In summer,
we feature our famous lobster sandwich.
For those unexpected travel emergencies, we offer a pay phone
and a popular little washroom (prepare to get in line!).
Our store has become the centre of our community. Especially
in the colder winter months, our coffee table is a gathering
place for locals to chat and sip cappuccinos (a winter special
offering), or share stories with visiting groups of snowmobile
enthusiasts in for fuel and a warmup. No matter what time of year
you visit us, you can be sure to find something you like, or someone
to meet.
